Decatur FC Builds on Record-Breaking First Season with New General Manager, Joel Gould
Decatur, GA – February 24, 2025 – Following an exceptional inaugural season, Decatur FC, the women’s semi-pro soccer team based in Decatur, Georgia, is thrilled to announce the hiring of Joel Gould as General Manager. Gould, who played a key role in Decatur FC’s historic 2024 season, will now take on an expanded leadership position as the club looks to build on its early success.
In 2024, Decatur FC made history by being named Franchise of the Year in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) while setting the league’s top two all-time attendance records. The team also earned top league standings, finishing:
- 2nd in their conference
- 4th in the South Region
- 16th overall among 130 teams
As Decatur FC gears up for its second season, which kicks off in May 2025, Owner Gareth O’Sullivan shared his excitement for Gould’s return. “Joel’s been with us from day one, so he knows what it took to get here,” said O’Sullivan. “He’s a true believer in women’s sports and understands the importance of connecting with our community while building a competitive team. We’re lucky to have him in this new role as we work to make this season even better for our fans and players.”
Returning Head Coach Campbell Chapman echoed O’Sullivan’s sentiments. “Joel’s heart is really in it—he understands that this team is about more than just the game. His dedication to the players and the city of Decatur is why he’s the perfect choice to help us take the next step. I couldn’t be more excited to have him as part of our leadership.
For Gould, this new role is an opportunity to build on Decatur FC’s strong foundation. “It’s an honor to take on this role and continue the journey with Decatur FC. Last season, we saw the incredible potential of this team and the support of our community. Our leadership team is committed to enhancing both the game experience and our community engagement, and I can’t wait to see what we achieve together.”
About Joel Gould
Joel is the owner of Sideline Station, a sports activation agency based in Decatur, with experience supporting events like: FIFA WC; UEFA EURO; MLS; The Olympics and the NCAA. Joel, his wife Michelle, and their two daughters have lived in Decatur for over 20 years and he has played an active role in community athletics, high school sports, and Inter Atlanta FC.

With five home games scheduled for May and June 2025, Decatur FC is set to welcome even more fans to Decatur High School Stadium. Season tickets and individual game tickets will go on sale in the coming weeks alongside the release of the full 2025 schedule.
